Copeland Parian Plaque of Assyrian figures in the Garden. This piece is shown on page 175 fig 570 in the Parian Phenomenon. it reads “Garden Scene Owen Hale dated 1893, [mine appears to be dated 1896] After the Assyrian carved relief form the Palace of Assurbanipal at Nineveh discovered by Henry Layard, now in the British Museum. The King reclines upon a rich couch and the Queen, clad in an elaborate robe, is seated opposite. Around are the various harem attedants. Made for Alfred Jervis, Willes Road, London NW“. there is a fleck off the base in the left front that is shown in the photos, otherwise condition is very good. 19 3/4 inches wide & 7 3/4 inches tall.
